National Guard activation to quell unrest cost $12.75 Million

The deployment of the Minnesota National Guard to help ease unrest in the Twin Cities cost $12.75 Million.

According to the Minnesota Management and Budget Department, the National Guard requested $12,750,000 for payroll, vehicles and sustained activities for Emergency Executive Order 20-64 which was ordered by Gov. Walz. 

The money was used to pay for payroll, meals, billeting, vehicles, fuel and other expenses for the National Guard for the 10 days following June 1. 

The funding is expected to be eligible for FEMA reimbursement according to MMB.
