MPRB closing 5 beaches due to elevated bacteria levels in lakes
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board said on Tuesday that it is closing five beaches due to elevated bacteria levels in lakes.
The five beaches closing Tuesday are:
- Bde Maka Ska 32nd Street Beach
- Bde Maka Ska North Beach
- Bde Maka Ska Thomas Beach
- Lake Harriet Southeast Beach
- Lake Hiawatha Beach
MPRB also noted that Monday is the last day of the beach season and the last day for wading pools.
Lifeguards will be on duty through the Labor Day holiday at the remaining open beaches, but swimming docks and buoys will be removed after Monday.
