MPD officer taken to hospital after squad involved in crash

A Minneapolis police squad was involved in a crash Thursday morning.

Two officers were traveling on Olson Memorial Highway at around 8:07 a.m. when a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction turned in front of the officers’ squad near West Lyndale Avenue North, the police department says. The squad then struck the vehicle.

Police say the officer driving the squad suffered an injury to the shoulder area and was taken to a hospital. The other officer and the driver of the passenger vehicle weren’t injured.

The department added that the driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the investigation.
