Motorcyclist dies after crashing into tree in Minneapolis

A motorcyclist died Thursday afternoon after striking a tree.

Minneapolis Police said officers received multiple reports of a crash near 51st Avenue and Humboldt Avenue North at about 2:21 p.m.

Officers and paramedics arrived at the scene and found a man believed to be in his 30s lying on the ground. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary information indicates two motorcyclists were headed north on Humboldt Avenue when one of them left the road and struck a tree, police said. The victim was thrown from the motorcycle and died from injuries suffered.

The other motorcyclist stopped and provided information to officers.

The crash is under investigation.
