Motorcyclist attempting to avoid collision on I-694 in Brooklyn Center thrown from bike, dies

A 43-year-old motorcyclist from Hastings died after being thrown from his bike while attempting to avoid a collision on Interstate 694 in Brooklyn Center on Saturday afternoon.

According to a Minnesota State Patrol incident report, the motorcyclist was traveling west on the interstate at the split for Highway 100 when a vehicle cut across traffic from the right lane of the interstate to the right lane of the highway.

The maneuver forced a series of vehicles, including a semi-truck, to move into the left lanes to avoid colliding with the vehicle.

While attempting to avoid colliding with any of the vehicles, the motorcyclist lost control of his bike and was thrown from it.

The State Patrol reported he died as a result of the crash.
