Moorhead police detained possible suspect in shooting incident
The Moorhead Police Department responded to reports of gunshots and detained a person involved in the incident Friday night.
According to police, at 9:56 p.m., officers responded to the Romkey Park area on a report of possible gunshots. While officers responded to the report, more calls came in reporting a possible shooting with a loud and verbal disturbance.
Once officers arrived at the scene, they located and detained an individual that was involved in the incident.
Police stated that several people were walking outside and pointed officers to an apartment building in the 1100 block of 18 1/2 Street South, where a third story apartment had what appeared to be gunshots through a large window.
The investigation is ongoing, but preliminary information suggests that the involved people know each other. There is not believed to be an ongoing threat to public safety at this time, said police.
There have been no reported injuries related to the shooting and there have been no arrests.
More information will be released at a later time.
