Minnetonka Public Schools names new superintendent

Friday, Minnetonka Public Schools officials announced David Law will become the next superintendent of the district.

Pending contract negotiations, Law will begin his new role as superintendent on July 1.

According to district officials, Law is currently in his eighth year as superintendent of the Anoka-Hennepin School district. Prior to that, he was the assistant superintendent for the White Bear Lake School district for seven years.

For seven years, Law was an assistant principal in the Anoka-Hennepin district and was also previously dean of students for Mounds View School District for two years.

Law has served as an adjunct professor at Bethel University and the University of Minnesota.

He was named 2020 Minnesota Superintendent of the Year and 2020 President of the Minnesota Association of School Administrators. Previously, he was named 2017 Minnesota Technology Educators Central Office Administrator of the Year.

Law began his career as a math teacher in the Anoka-Hennepin district, officials stated.

“We are thrilled that David Law will be taking the helm here at Minnetonka Schools,” Chris Vitale, chair of the Minnetonka School Board, said in a statement. “He is an experienced, proven leader who we believe will help us to harness and preserve the focus on child-centered excellence across our school system and at the same time will infuse new energy into all we do as a district.”
