Minnesota schools closed but stadium lights illuminated as part of #BeTheLightMN movement

Schools throughout Minnesota have been turning on their stadium lights at night as a way to "honor their students, staff and community members" in the midst of distance learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a social media post from the Minnesota State High School League, dozens of schools are participating as part of the #BeTheLightMN movement.

The league is asking those interested in seeing the lights not to gather near or under the lights.

"Enjoy from afar, maintain proper social distancing and please please stay safe and keep others safe," the post states.
