The body of a Minnesota man was found Wednesday near a hiking area in South Dakota.
According to Hubbard Broadcasting affiliate KAAL-TV, authorities found 24-year-old Alex Verburg, of Mantorville, near the Stratobowl Trailhead.
The Pennington County, South Dakota Sheriff’s Office says Rapid City police received a report of a missing person Tuesday night. The investigation led authorities to an area near the Stratobowl Trailhead off of U.S. Highway 16 and Verburg’s vehicle was found.
A search of the area was then initiated and Verburg was found at the bottom of a cliff Wednesday morning.
While there aren’t any preliminary signs of foul play, officials say the investigation remains open.
