Minneapolis man sentenced to federal prison for child porn charge

A Minneapolis man has been sentenced to federal prison for using Snapchat to produce child pornography.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 40-year-old Jay Whiteford used his cellphone and Snapchat to communicate with at least two minors in March 2020. In those talks, he used an alias and claimed he was 16, then convinced the minors to make and send him sexually explicit pictures and videos.

He was sentenced Thursday to 35 years in prison, followed by supervised release for the rest of his life.
