Minneapolis-based Owamni wins James Beard Foundation Award for Best Restaurant

Minneapolis-based restaurant Owamni received the James Beard Foundation award for Best New Restaurant on Monday night.

Owamni is a full-service restaurant that specializes in Native American cuisine.

The chef of the Indigenous restaurant, Sean Sherman, was also a James Beard Award nominee for Best Chef: Midwest, along with two other Minnesota chefs.

It’s the first time since 2019 that the James Beard Foundation presented its awards in person.
