MDH: New app allows Minnesotans to quickly, safely access personal vaccination records

The Minnesota Department of Health says residents can now use an app to quickly, safely and securely access all of their immunizations records amid a huge uptick in requests for those documents this year.

The app, Docket, allows people with a Minnesota Immunization Information Connection (MIIC) record to view and save their entire vaccination history, including COVID-19 and shots from multiple Minnesota health care providers, as a single PDF to a phone that could then also be texted, emailed, faxed or printed, according to MDH.

"The Docket app gives Minnesotans a digital option to access their immunization history in MIIC, check what vaccines you or your children may be due for, and see what vaccines you may need in the future. This is vital to making sure people are protected from preventable diseases," MDH Infectious Disease Division Director Kris Ehresmann said.

MDH says vaccine records requests have dramatically increased in 2021, especially this summer, and using this app will let people access necessary medical information in a much quicker fashion.

So far this year, MDH says it has seen more than 33,000 requests for immunization records with 19,000 of them coming in since July 1. It’s taking weeks for the requests to be fulfilled instead of days, Ehresmann says. For comparison, MDH says 2020 saw about 12,000 vaccine requests and about 13,000 in 2019.
