MDH Commissioner Malcolm receives J&J vaccine

Wednesday afternoon, Minnesota Department of Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm received her COVID-19 vaccination.

Gov. Tim Walz also spoke before Malcolm received her shot, thanking her for her work at MDH during the pandemic.

"I’m actually surprised how emotional this day is, certainly for me, but I think it represents the hope that I’ve heard about and seen in friends and colleagues who’ve had the vaccine, it’s a big deal," Malcolm said.

Malcolm said she was emailed by Allina last Friday saying she was eligible to get the vaccination. She said she was hoping to get the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which is the one she received, to show her confidence in it to the public.
