McDonald’s in Dinkytown closes after nearly 60 years
After nearly 60 years, the McDonald’s in the Dinkytown neighborhood of Minneapolis has closed.
The corner of Fourth Street and 15th Avenue will soon be home to a new retail and apartment complex.
This project has been in the works for a while but many weren’t sure when the popular late-night stop for college students would finally close.
A former employee said he’s sad to see it go.
“A lot of college people have come through, all of the people I know around here and friends that stop by and say hello, there’s probably a lot of history in that building,” Preness Boyce said.
The fast food restaurant is expected to be demolished along with some of the other surrounding businesses to make way for the new development.
