Mask mandate to take effect in Golden Valley
A mask mandate is set to take effect Thursday in Golden Valley.
According to city officials, the city council passed a proclamation Tuesday night declaring a local emergency and mandating masking.
The mandate goes into effect at 5 p.m. Thursday.
City officials state the mandate applies to those over the age of 2 who are able to medically tolerate a face covering, regardless of vaccination status.
The mandate applies to indoor areas of public accommodation, defined by city officials as business, educational, refreshment and recreation facilities.
All employers and employees of those facilities will be required to wear a mask as well. City officials said athletes, performers and supporting staff competing or performing at those facilities are not subject to the mandate.
