An elderly woman died in a house fire overnight, according to Maple Grove fire officials.

Crews were called to the home on Lancaster Lane around 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Fire officials say the woman was found near the front door and didn’t make it out of the burning home in time. A 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS photographer at the scene Wednesday night saw a medical examiner arrive.

Fire crews had to retreat due to the intensity of the fire.

The home had working smoke alarms.
