Maple Grove City Council member tells neighbors to watch out for bear
A bear has been spotted in northeast Maple Grove, and a member of the town's City Council is urging residents to be alert.
Maple Grove City Councilwoman Kristy Barnett shared the public safety announcement Sunday afternoon on Twitter. She said there were a few reports of a bear near the Elm Creek Park Reserve on Saturday.
According to Barnett, the bear appeared to be juvenile that had been separated from its mother. No damage had been reported.

Barnett recommended that residents put away any potential food sources from around their homes, such as bird feeders and garbage cans.
"If we can remove any possible sources of food for this young bear then it will hopefully start to travel north and get out of the area," Barnett said in a tweet.
