Man taken into custody after standoff in Maplewood
A man was taken into custody Tuesday after a standoff in Maplewood.
According to Maplewood Police, officers were called to the 1900 block of Clark Street at 9:54 a.m. on a report of a man inside a home armed with a gun and threatening to harm a woman and her child.
Police said the woman and child were able to escape from the home and the man barricaded himself inside the home.
Neighboring homes were evacuated as a precaution, and the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office SWAT team, along with negotiators, firefighters and paramedics were called to assist.
After several hours of negotiating, the 30-year-old man came out of the home and was taken into custody without further incident. He was then taken to the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center.
No injuries were reported and authorities said there is no threat to the public.
