Man recently convicted of criminal sexual conduct of a minor faces 8 new charges in Douglas Co.
A man who was sentenced just last month for criminal sexual conduct of a minor in 2018 is now facing additional charges in connection to a separate case.
Zachary Levi Wittmer, 33, of Parkers Prairie, was sentenced on April 12 to 90 days at the Douglas County jail and 25 years of supervised probation after he was convicted of second-degree criminal sexual conduct of a minor.
In that case, court documents show Wittmer was accused of sexual conduct with a 10-year-old in 2018.
Thursday, Wittmer was charged with eight new counts of criminal sexual conduct — including two counts of first-degree, five counts of third-degree and one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct — for allegedly sexually assaulting a teenager over the course of a couple years.
A criminal complaint states that a man came forward to Douglas County law enforcement on April 13, saying he’d heard of Wittmer’s sentencing the day before and Wittmer also sexually assaulted him from roughly 2013 to 2015.
The victim alleged that Wittmer first introduced the victim to porn and child porn when the victim was 14, and Wittmer was more than nine years older at the time. From there, Wittmer started having sexual contact with the victim on several occasions, which continued until after the victim was 16, the complaint states.
It adds that the victim told authorities he felt obligated to allow Wittmer’s sexual contact because Wittmer was teaching the victim about motorcycles and engines.
The victim said he has had mental and physical issues because of Wittmer’s actions, which medical records confirmed, according to the complaint.
First-degree criminal sexual conduct charges carry a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $40,000 fine with a conviction.
Wittmer’s next court hearing is set for July 20.
