Man pleads guilty to aiding violent Minneapolis carjacking

A Minneapolis man has pleaded guilty in connection to a carjacking last summer.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 19-year-old Marion Quintel Ware pleaded guilty Thursday to aiding and abetting a carjacking.

Ware is accused of using a gun to carjack a victim on June 15, 2021, when his accomplice hit the victim on the head with a metal object, splitting the victim’s head open. Ware and his accomplice then drove off in the victim’s vehicle.

Prosecutors say the two fled when officers tried to stop the vehicle, then got out and ran away. However, officers arrested Ware and recovered a loaded semiautomatic handgun with an extended magazine that he’d tossed while running.

Ware’s sentencing date hasn’t yet been set.
