Man pleads guilty in drowning death of 21-month-old son
A man has pleaded guilty in connection to the drowning death of his 21-month-old son last September.
Eddy Pierre Louis, 54, pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter on Wednesday. His sentencing is set for Oct. 23. Sabina Pierre Louis, the child’s mother, was also charged with second-degree manslaughter. A plea hearing for her is set for Thursday.
According to a criminal complaint, Eddy Pierre Louis and Sabina Pierre Louis left their three children alone in their Bloomington apartment the morning of Sept. 21 while they went shopping at Walmart and Cub Foods. Surveillance footage obtained by the police shows they were out for at least an hour and a half.
When they returned, their oldest child was sleeping, but their 4-year-old child was in the bathroom. When they went into the bathroom, they discovered their 21-month-old in the tub.
