Man killed after semi blows tire, hits his truck
A blown tire led to a fatal crash in far southern Minnesota Monday morning.
The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash happened shortly after 8 a.m. on Interstate 35 in Freeman Township.
According to the crash report, a 2007 Kenworth semi well-drilling truck was headed south when one of its tires blew out, causing the driver to lose control. The semi then crossed the median and collided with a northbound 2001 Dodge Ram.
The driver of the Dodge, 22-year-old Hunter Lee Robertson, of Glenville, died in the crash. The driver of the semi — identified as a 45-year-old Hammond, Wisconsin man — suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
