Man in custody after shooting at 3 people in St. Paul

A man has been arrested after shooting at his ex-girlfriend Monday evening and having an outstanding warrant from a neighboring state.

According to the St. Paul Police Department, at 6:10 p.m., officers responded to a shooting report at the 900 block of Jenks Avenue. The 911 call reported that a man was shooting inside a residence.

Once officers arrived at the scene, police said they spoke to a 54-year-old woman, who told them that her 46-year-old ex-boyfriend forced his way into her house and began shooting at her and three others.

No victims inside the house were injured by the gunshots, said police.

According to police, officers then cleared the residence and did not locate the suspect or any other victims, but a short time after, officers found the suspect, later identified as Amos Johnson, on the 900 block of Lawson Avenue East, who was suffering from gunshot wounds.

St. Paul Fire medics treated and transported him to Regions Hospital for injuries not considered to be life-threatening. Police said it is unknown if the suspect’s injuries were self-inflicted.

Officers searched the area where the suspect was located and recovered a firearm, extended magazine, and multiple casings.

Johnson had an outstanding warrant out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin for multiple felony offenses, including second-degree sexual assault/mentally Ill victim, forceful abduction of a child, and child abuse-intentionally cause harm.

Police said Johnson was arrested for second-degree assault with dangerous weapons.
