Man identified in fatal crash in Phillips neighborhood in Minneapolis

The man killed in a crash in the Phillips neighborhood in Minneapolis has been identified as 29-year-old Desi Ray Jr. WalkingEagle from Minneapolis.

According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, WalkingEagle was the driver of a vehicle that crashed into a structure at the 2600 block of Cedar Avenue South.

WalkingEagle died from multiple blunt force injuries, said the medical examiner.

Officers and firefighters were called just before 1:30 a.m. on the report of a crash on the 2600 block of Cedar Avenue South.

When first responders arrived, they found one car that had “substantial damage.” WalkingEagle the lone occupant of the vehicle was taken to Hennepin Healthcare, where he later died.

The incident remains under investigation.
