Man found guilty of fatally striking person at Minneapolis bar

A Golden Valley man, on Thursday, was found guilty by a jury of fatally striking a man at a Minneapolis bar in 2019.

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office said 30-year-old Erik Kravchuk was convicted of unintentional second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter and fifth-degree assault in the death of 42-year-old Aleksandre Sambelashvili.

Authorities say Kravchuk struck Sambelashvili with his forearm while at a downtown Minneapolis bar on July 28, 2019, causing Sambelashvili to fall to the ground. Sambelashvili died nearly a month later from a brain injury he suffered in the incident.

Kravchuk’s sentencing is set for Dec. 6.
