Man found guilty of arson at Target HQ

A St. Paul man has been found guilty of arson at Target Headquarters last year.

Victor Devon Edwards, 32, was convicted of one count of riot and one count of arson, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Evidence showed that Edwards joined a large crowd in downtown Minneapolis on the night of Aug. 26, 2020, and engaged in acts of rioting, looting and other property damage. After he and co-defendant Shador Tommie Cortez Jackson worked to steal women’s purses, prosecutors say they were caught on surveillance video using a construction sign to break into Target’s headquarters building. Once inside, Jackson started a fire in the mailroom while Edwards added an accelerant to the fire.

A date for his sentencing has not yet been announced.
