Man charged in connection to multiple armed robberies in Twin Cities

A Minneapolis man has been charged in connection to multiple armed robberies that occurred in the Twin Cities area.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said 39-year-old Derrick Lee Spillman has been charged with four counts of robbery and one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.

According to federal prosecutors, on July 30, Spillman committed armed robberies at two Holiday gas station, a Speedway gas station and a Subway.

Authorities were able to identify Spillman by unique tattoos, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

He was scheduled to make his first court appearance Tuesday.
