Man charged in 3 Minneapolis rapes
A St. Paul man is now charged in connection to three rapes in Minneapolis.
Abdukidus Abdulkad Osman, 21, is charged with three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection to the assaults, which happened last fall and winter. Each charge is punishable by up to 30 years in prison with a conviction.
The first happened on Sept. 26 near Franklin Avenue East and West River Parkway.
A criminal complaint states a woman told police she’d met up with Osman and had sex. Afterward, when the victim asked to be taken home, Osman started acting weird, then got angry and punched, kicked and stomped her, causing her to lose consciousness. When she woke up, she ran and Osman chased after her, then raped her until someone heard her screaming and came to help.
The victim underwent a sexual assault exam and DNA matched Osman, whom she also identified as the person who raped her.
On Oct. 21, police responded to another sexual assault report.
According to that complaint, the victim said she was near East Lake Street and 21st Avenue South when a man who pulled up in a van started hitting her, choked her with her sweatshirt and then raped her. He then took her phone and drove away.
The victim underwent a sexual assault exam and DNA matched Osman’s profile.
On Nov. 4, police went to the 2000 block of 27th Avenue South on another sexual assault report.
The victim told police she was waiting outside for her uncle to pick her up near Lake Street East and 13th Avenue South when a man in a blue van drove up and asked her if she wanted to warm up inside, the complaint states. The victim got inside and the man drove to a nearby bank but then started driving away. When she asked him to take her back to where she was waiting, he pulled over, punched her and threatened her.
The complaint continues, stating the man then dragged her back in the van when she tried to run, punched her multiple times, then raped her. Eventually, the man let her go to the bathroom and she ran away and called her uncle, who arrived soon after.
The victim underwent a sexual assault exam and the DNA matched Osman’s profile.
Additionally, Osman is charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old on April 13, 2021, in Milwaukee, where he is now in custody and awaiting trial.
His court proceedings for the Minneapolis cases are on hold until that trial concludes.
