Man arrested for burning wife’s Homeland Security vehicle in Hubbard County

A Hubbard County man was arrested Friday on suspicion of burning his wife’s Homeland Security vehicle.
The Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office said it responded to a reported vehicle fire at a home just southwest of Park Rapids in Straight River Township at about 11:04 a.m. The caller also reported a man at the scene had said he just burned his wife’s Homeland Security vehicle.
Deputies and firefighters responded and found a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox fully engulfed in flames.
The sheriff’s office said authorities found 51-year-old Robert Ecker at the scene and took him into custody on suspicion of arson. He was takent to Hubbard County Jail where he was arraigned on second-degree arson charges the next day. He’s since been released on bail.
An investigation is underway.
