Man arrested, charged in connection to Eau Claire sexual assault
Authorities in Eau Claire, Wisconsin say a man has been charged in connection to a sexual assault that occurred earlier this month.
According to the Eau Claire Police Department, officers took a report from a victim who was sexually assaulted by a man on March 17.
Police say the victim told them the man contacted her on Water Street and offered her a ride to her hotel. The man drove her to a secluded area and assaulted her.
Authorities were able to later identify the suspect as Larry Young. Police said investigators were able to identify a possible vehicle driven by the suspect that night but needed to identify the operator.
On March 26, officers saw the same vehicle driving through the downtown area. According to police, the driver was identified as Young. Police said Young did not enter any bars and seemed to be watching the crowds.
Police deployed a female undercover officer that night who was approached by Young multiple times. Young was later arrested in connection to the incident that occurred on March 17.
According to the Eau Claire Police Department, the Eau Claire County District Attorney’s Office filed charges of stalking resulting in bodily harm, strangulation and suffocation, attempted second-degree sexual assault and fourth-degree sexual assault against Young.
Young is being held in the Eau Claire County Jail on a $1,000 cash bond.
