Man, 2 juveniles arrested after Columbia Heights carjacking

Police say three people were arrested — including two juveniles — after a carjacking early Thursday morning in Columbia Heights.

Columbia Heights police say officers responded to the 4600 block of Central Avenue Northeast at around 12:15 a.m. on a report of a robbery. When officers arrived, they learned a family had been carjacked at gunpoint.

With the victim’s help, officers were able to track the stolen vehicle and, eventually, Brooklyn Center police, Hennepin County deputies and state troopers were able to recover the vehicle in Brooklyn Center. Authorities also found a pistol, police said.

Officers then arrested a man, a juvenile male and a juvenile female.

The incident remains under investigation.
