Law enforcement officials make 440 DWI arrests during Thanksgiving holiday weekend

There were 440 DWI arrests on Minnesota roads during the long Thanksgiving weekend.

The update Monday came from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS)’s Office of Traffic Safety (OTS).

The department reported the number of DWI arrests this year marked an increase from the pre-pandemic 2019 Thanksgiving period, during which time 403 DWI arrests were made.

Last week, the DPS reported law enforcement officials will be on the lookout for drivers who appear impaired during the department’s extra holiday patrols campaign from Nov. 24 through Dec. 31.

DPS reports the holiday patrols campaign, coordinated by OTS, includes more than 300 law enforcement agencies throughout the state.
