Law enforcement is going pink this month.

There are some new wraps on Hennepin County Sheriff’s vehicles and deputy uniforms will also feature more pink this month.

It’s part of the Pink Patch Project, to show support and raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

For some of the deputies, it’s more than a campaign; it’s also very personal.

Deputy Sheriff Perry King’s wife was diagnosed with breast cancer five years ago this month. At the time, the couple had to prepare their two young children for the possibility that they might lose their mother.

But thanks to these types of campaigns, King said today, his wife and others can call themselves survivors.

"My wife and I would sit there at treatment and discuss just how grateful we were that she’s a cancer patient today as opposed to ten years ago, just ten years has made a huge difference," King said.

Other local law enforcement agencies are also sporting pink, including officers in St. Paul.
