Large number of mail thefts reported in Kanabec County
A large number of mail thefts were reported in Kanabec County on Monday and Tuesday.
According to the Kanabec County Sheriff’s Office, the county experienced a large number of mail thefts overnight Monday into Tuesday.
The incidents stretched from Ford Township to Elk River and occurred both on major roads and small backroads.
Thieves are looking for bill payments, financial account information and any personal information for identity theft purposes, the sheriff’s office said.
Anyone who had outgoing mail that may have been in a mailbox Monday night is urged to check with your payment destination and bank to make sure it arrives. Anyone who believes their mail may have been stolen is asked to call dispatch and file a report.
