Laporte man dies in ATV accident

A Laporte man died Sunday after an ATV accident in Schoolcraft Township.
The Hubbard County Sheriff's Office says it received a call at about 3:36 p.m. reporting an ATV crash just off County Road 44.
According to the sheriff's office, the caller said the man driving the ATV was thrown from the machine and his head was underwater in a swampy area.
Authorities responded and found 61-year-old Timmy White dead.
The sheriff's office said initial investigation shows White had been traveling on County Road 44 when he made an abrupt turn, entered the ditch and rolled the ATV several times.
The department said White wasn't wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
