Lakeville police mourn officer’s death from cancer
Police in Lakeville are mourning the loss of an officer.
Adam MacDonald, who the department said Monday had been with Lakeville Police since becoming a community service officer in June 1998, died Saturday after a battle with cancer.
MacDonald was officially sworn in as an officer in 1999 and served as a patrol officer, drug task force agent, field training officer, detective, crisis negotiator and crime scene unit member.
“Adam touched so many lives inside of our organization, and countless more outside of our walls. In a profession that can be full of stress and chaos at times, Adam’s calm, compassionate, and professional demeanor was a welcome addition to many calls for service and moments of crisis he responded to,” the department said in a statement.
Officers are planning to wear bands over their badges to signify MacDonald’s loss, and a squad car is also parked outside the flags in front of the department to honor him.
