It's an event that brings many together and one step closer to finding a cure.

The JDRF One Walk will take place at Mall of America on Feb. 22.

The goal is to create a world without Type 1 diabetes.

The Curry family, from Lakeville, battles Type 1 diabetes. Quincy Curry's 14-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son both have the condition.

"There is no break from diabetes," Curry said. "We were thrown into a whole new world and had to learn a whole new way of living."

Many families face the same challenges with the condition.

"In reality, Type 1 diabetes is a common disorder, it affects about one in 300 individuals," Dr. Brandon Nathan, of M Health Fairview Pediatric Specialty Clinic in Burnsville, said. "A lot of what we do here is trying to make life normal again, just living with diabetes and making sure they understand that they can do anything they want to."
