JCPenney closing Coon Rapids store, about 100 jobs affected

JCPenney is set to permanently close its store in Coon Rapids this fall.

The company sent a notice letter to Coon Rapids Mayor Jerry Koch and a coordinator with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development’s Dislocated Worker program on Friday. The store in Coon Rapids’s Riverdale Village retail center is scheduled to close sometime in late September.

JCPenney said about 101 store employees’ jobs would be affected. Some of those employees could be offered jobs at other store locations, the letter states.
