Isanti man charged with possessing stolen firearms

Court documents show an Isanti man has been federally charged with possession of stolen firearms.

Authorities say they received reports of firearm thefts from shipments to Federal Firearms Licensees starting in August of last year, adding the carrier for the shipments was XPO Logistics, which has locations in St. Cloud and Fridley.

Earlier this month, XPO Logistics told the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) another 11 firearms were stolen from a recent shipment.

The firearms were identified as a Century Arms model Draco NAK9 9mm semiautomatic AK pistol and five Canik model Rival 9mm semiautomatic pistols.

The suspect identified as the person responsible for the multiple firearm thefts was 31-year-old Jason Cikotte of Isanti. A security manager provided police with video evidence that showed Cikotte moving firearms to his vehicle after removing them from boxes which were on shrink-wrapped pallets.

After searching Cikotte’s home, court documents say police found dozens of firearms, which they say all appeared to be firearms stolen from XPO Logistics, as well as tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition and various firearms parts and accessories.

Cikotte eventually admitted to stealing the items from XPO Logistics, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and made an initial appearance in U.S. District Court Friday.
