Investigation underway into cause of abandoned house fire near Austin

Officials responded to a report of a house fire near Austin Thursday night.

ABC affiliate KAAL-TV reports officials were called to the fire at a home near 12th Avenue Northwest and 31st Street at about 11:30 p.m.

Officials said the house was engulfed in flames upon arrival. The sheriff’s office says no one was inside the home at the time and the home had been abandoned, according to KAAL-TV.

A KAAL-TV crew reported the road was blocked off during the investigation.

The fire is reportedly suspicious in nature, though the cause of the fire has not yet been identified.
