Inver Grove Heights woman killed in Dakota County crash

Authorities say one person is dead and another is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries following a crash in Mendota Heights.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, an eastbound Ford Ranger on Highway 62 drifted into a ditch at about 2:45 p.m. Friday in Mendota Heights.

After that, the incident report states it hit a tree and then rolled.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as a 70-year-old Inver Grove Heights man, was taken to Regions Hospital for his injuries.

However, authorities say a 66-year-old Inver Grove Heights woman, identified as Margarita Cruz Garcia, died from her injuries. A medical examiner’s report states Garcia died from multiple blunt force injuries.

Both people were listed as wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
