Injured bald eagle found in Brooklyn Center, taken to Raptor Center

An injured bald eagle was found Tuesday in Brooklyn Center, authorities said.

Brooklyn Center Police said a resident noticed the eagle while on a morning run. When she drove by later and saw the bald eagle hadn't moved, she called 911 and a community service officer responded.

The officer then coordinated a pickup by the University of Minnesota's Raptor Center, and a professional responded and determined the eagle's wing was injured.

Police reminded the public to never attempt to rehabilitate a raptor by yourself, as special knowledge and permits are needed. Instead, contact a licensed professional, appropriate agencies in your area or the Raptor Center at 612-624-4745.
