Illinois man arrested after pursuit in St. Cloud

An Illinois man was arrested shortly after the start of the new year following a pursuit in St. Cloud.

St. Cloud Police said officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the 800 block of University Drive South at 12:01 a.m. on Friday after they saw what they believed was a possible drug deal involving the occupant.

When officers tried to stop the vehicle, it fled eastbound and a pursuit began. Eventually, officers were able to attempt a PIT maneuver in the 2600 block of Goettens Way, which stopped the vehicle.

At that time, officers arrested the driver, identified as 23-year-old Tremon Javone Henley, of East St. Louis, Illinois.

Officers also found what was believed to be marijuana inside the vehicle, police said.

Henley had an outstanding felony warrant out of St. Louis, Missouri, and was taken to Stearns County Jail to be held for extradition.

One officer suffered a minor injury during the pursuit but didn’t require medical attention. Henley’s vehicle and three squad cars were damaged in the pursuit.
