IDS Center fully reopens after flooding last week

Tenants were able to return to their offices at the IDS Center Monday, a week after more than two dozen floors were evacuated due to flooding that impacted the electrical system.

A spokesperson for Accesso confirmed to 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that power was restored to floors 26 through 51 over the weekend, allowing workers to return to the downtown Minneapolis building.

The company said Wednesday that a water expansion tank overflowed following the routine replacement of a water meter by the city, and the flooding then impacted electrical equipment in the building, which was evacuated.

Crews spent the rest of the week drying and repairing areas affected by the flooding before power was restored over the weekend.

The 57-story tower houses office and retail spaces at the corner of South Eighth Street and Nicollet Mall.
