Hy-Vee pulls potato salad from shelves due to possible microbial contamination

A cookout staple is being pulled from Hy-Vee stores right before the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Hy-Vee announced Friday it’s removing all store-brand potato salad from its shelves due to “a presumptive positive microbial result” on its production line. The withdrawal applies to all sizes and types of Hy-Vee Potato Salad and Mealtime Potato Salad across all of the company’s stores.

The final test results were not expected to be returned for at least a week, so the company said it decided to revoke the items “out of an abundance of caution.”

The potato salad expiration dates were between July 31, 2022, and Aug. 4, 2022. Hy-Vee said no illnesses or complaints have been reported so far regarding the affected products.
