Hugo man pleads guilty to possession of methamphetamine and firearms in drug trafficking crime
A Hugo man, Brannen Michael Stafford, 34, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking crime.
A report from U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger state that law enforcement responded to the Robbinsdale and Crystal area after receiving multiple calls of shots fired on Mar. 1, 2022. Police officers apprehended Stafford, who was armed with a fully automatic Glock 17 9-millimeter handgun tucked in his waistband. In the same vicinity, on Highway 100, several 9-millimeter shell casings were found. Officers seized another Glock 9-millimeter hand gun, 100 rounds of 9-millimeter ammunition, and approximately 6 pounds of methamphetamine.
Stafford pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson to one count of possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine and one count of carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime.
A sentencing hearing will be scheduled at a later time.
