House fire in Minneapolis Friday afternoon displaces two residents, leaves home uninhabitable

A fire in Minneapolis has left a home uninhabitable Friday afternoon.

According to the Minneapolis Fire Department (MFD), firefighters were called to a report of a garage or shed fire in near 6th Street North and 26th Avenue North shortly after 2 p.m. Friday. It was reported that the home was occupied at the time of the fire.

Minneapolis firefighters arrived and found the home fully engulfed, but after extinguishing some of the fire and searching the inside and determined the house was unoccupied.

The fire was extinguished with no injuries or death, and no damage to neighboring homes, according to a fire department spokesperson.

Red Cross was called to assist with housing for two residents. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
