The Hennepin County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to approve $8 million from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) to bars and restaurants impacted by COVID-19.
According to the Board Action Request, the Board of Commissioners allocated $8 million in federal funding to provide economic support to local restaurants, bars and food service establishments that suffered interruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic during the period from March 1 through Dec. 30.
The board voted to approve the measure by a 6-0 margin.
This latest relief to area bars and restaurants comes as Gov. Walz is set to announce increased restrictions Wednesday due to the raging COVID-19 pandemic.
