Hennepin County announces new round of funding to help businesses affected by recent restrictions

Monday, Hennepin County is launching a new round of emergency funding to help businesses affected by recent additional restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new Small Business Relief funding announced Monday is being made available to assist restaurants, bars, gyms and health clubs, and entertainment venues.
A spokesperson for the county said the application period for the new funding opened at noon Monday and will be available for one week.
According to the county, businesses that have not previously received Small Business Relief funds through the county can apply for $15,000 grants. Businesses that have previously received those funds can apply for additional $10,000 grants.

Businesses in Hennepin County can apply for funding to help cover:
- Commercial rent/mortgage payments.
- Utilities and other non-payroll operating expenses.
- Supplier payments.
- Personal protective equipment.
- Costs to comply with Minnesota’s public health guidance.
- Other COVID-19 related expenditures.
Last week, the board unanimously voted to approve $8 million from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to help restaurants and bars.
Additionally, $5 million of previously allocated Small Business Relief funding is being made available specifically to fitness, entertainment and event facilities, according to the county.
