Georgia man killed in Dakota County crash

Authorities say a Georgia man is dead following a crash on Highway 52 Tuesday night in Inver Grove Heights.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash happened on Highway 52 at Briggs Drive shortly before 9 p.m.

The State Patrol says a Ford Transit 250 was headed north on 52 when it went off the road, hit a guardrail and rolled.

The driver, identified as 63-year-old Calvin Evans, died at the scene. Authorities say Evans was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

Roads were listed as snow- and ice-covered at the time.

The crash was one of hundreds of crashes across Minnesota roads Tuesday. The State Patrol says between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m., troopers responded to nearly 340 crashes, and 23 of them involved non-life-threatening injuries.
